Adjunct Professor, HEC Montréal
Former Executive Vice-President of Radio-Canada, Sylvain Lafrance is now an adjunct professor at HEC Montréal.
Sylvain Lafrance started at Radio-Canada in 1978 as a journalist. He quickly rose through the ranks to become, in 1998, Vice-President of Radio.
In fall 2005, CBC/Radio-Canada’s Board of Directors appointed him Executive Vice-President of Radio-Canada’s French Services, entrusting him with the integration of Radio-Canada’s radio, television and Internet services to create one of the largest French-language public radio broadcasting groups.
Mr. Lafrance is Chevalier de l’Ordre de la Pléiade, a title awarded by the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie; Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres; and Knight of France’s Legion of Honour. He is also a member of the Order of Canada.
Mr. Lafrance is now an adjunct professor at HEC Montréal and sits on the boards of directors of the Société des alcools du Québec, Groupe Square Victoria and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, as well as being Chairman of the Québec Film and Television Council.
