CEO and Editor-in-Chief, WatchMojo
Founder, CEO, Editor-in-Chief and Ombudsman of WatchMojo: a profitable & independent video producer and Canada’s largest YouTube channel.
Launched in 2006 with the objective to “Inform and Entertain through Video,” WatchMojo survived the early lean years of online media by focusing on premium video programming for emerging platforms. The company bootstrapped until it achieved profitability in 2012, outlasting and outgunning deeper-funded American competitors.
Today the company is omnipresent online, with syndication deals with Google’s YouTube, Yahoo!, MSN, AOL, Comcast, Verizon, Amazon, Sun Media, PostMedia, among others.
The Montreal-based company is not only Canada’s largest YouTube channel, but one of the largest globally in terms of monthly and all-time views, subscribers and watch time. In fact, with 1.25 billion minutes of watch time per month, WatchMojo’s YouTube channel is among the most engaging online. Indeed, only 12 channels have more than 10 million subscribers and 5 billion all-time views, and half of those are VEVO channels.
As male millennials give up on print, television, radio and embrace the Web, WatchMojo holds a commanding grip on the much-coveted audience, with 65% of its viewership being men aged 18-34.
Throughout, Ash has been published in industry publications such as MediaPost, TechCrunch, PaidContent and GigaOm, and moderated panels at Streaming Media, OMMA, and Digital Hollywood.
In 2011, Marketing Magazine chose WatchMojo as “one of the leading digital media companies to watch out for in Canada” while Digiday selected WatchMojo alongside CBS and HBO as one of the three finalists in the “Best Entertainment Category”.
